O What a Night!

When I imagined parenthood these are the nights that I imagined it would be like. This was about as good as it gets.

Getting ready....

We stopped at a few houses early and went to our friends Dave and Becky's house for pizza, Duck football and trick-or-treating.

An early unsuccessful photo op... Peyton wouldn't look up for the camera so I took her trick-or-treat pumpkin away. Here's how that went. Oops.
Not much better...
Getting the hang of it...
The girls went to only one house while we were at Dave and Becky's. They had TONS of trick-or-treaters and the girls loved passing out candy to all the other kids. Here's Libby flying high on jelly beans....
Winding down and watching the fourth quarter at home....
Tired little witch.
Brushin'
The topper to the whole night.....

Rearranging Our Plans...

We're supposed to be at Libby's dance recital right now. Her first. Instead, we're home and Libby has been up and down with a fever all day. She woke up this morning lethargic with a temperature of 101. An hour later she was 102. I gave her Tylenol and took her temperature an hour later and she was 103 and falling asleep in front of the t.v. I called the triage nurse. I try not to panic over things I can't control anyway, but at this point I started pacing. It's the worst feeling not to be able to do anything to make your baby feel better. Over the next few hours her fever hovered in the 102 range and by 3:30 she started perking up. By 4:45, when we should've been getting into costume with all the other Twinkle Toes, Libby was running back and forth from the kitchen to her bedroom, tagging Peyton and yelling, "You're it!" The triage nurse didn't think she has the flu, so maybe this little bug will pass quickly. Here's hoping...

Pumpkin Patch #2

We had a great time at the pumpkin patch yesterday, but didn't get to go on the cow train because we got there just as it closed. So today we went back just for the train. Let me tell you, it was worth every penny. I smiled the whole ride. When it was over, I set Peyton down and she climbed right back in. Ready for another ride. This is a tradition in the making.

The Pumpkin Patch

We had a great time this afternoon at the pumpkin patch. We went out late, and missed the chance to ride the horse drawn carriage out to the pumpkins, so we walked instead. I think the walk was the best part.

Sweet love from little sister.
I just got the game Connect Four for the girls. Peyton loves to drop the checkers into the slots. Ages 6+.....please.
Heading out to find our pumpkin.....

Got one. Heading back....

Feeding the goats is a favorite.
Making a plan. Libby voted for SCARY over silly.

Libby wasn't crazy about Dad's use of power tools, so she sat this one out.
Concentration.....
Observers....
The finished product. We've got him on the back deck where the girls could see his glow.

Under the Weather

The girls and I were sick last week. We only had colds, but I'm thinking this is a cold and flu season I don't want any part of! Ugh. We're feeling better now, so the girls and I had a quick trip to Bend on Sunday to check out one side of our duplex that just became vacant. Do you know anyone in Bend who needs to rent? Give 'em our number! It's move in ready...

Here's a picture of Shane and the girls last week when he got home from hunting. They didn't mind that he was filthy. Just so happy that Daddy was home.
Peyton wishing Daddy would come inside...
Libby and I decorated cupcakes last week for our friend Becky's birthday. We saved a few for ourselves. I didn't see her do it, but noticed later that Libby had added her own touch to a few...
It got very quiet one afternoon and I went looking for Libby. She was in my bathroom. More specifically, she was INTO my bathroom bag. When I came around the corner she said, "Mom, I found your lip chap! (Chapstick)" What she'd really found was my mascara. Here's the result.
Watching Daddy mow...
Okay. It's official. I am a certifiably insane stage mother. Somebody stop me or I just might put my kids in pageants. Libby's dance teacher asked if anyone might be willing to help with costumes for next week's recital. She wanted the kids dressed as pumpkins. I found a cute pattern on Martha Stuart's website and figured out a design for the hat on my own. Then, I found a king sized flannel sheet set from Target in orange. Who sleeps on orange sheets? After I'd finished five costumes it occurred to me that Libby's dance teacher has two sessions of "Twinkle Toes", kids ages 2-4. When I called to ask her this, I found out in fact, she has THREE sessions. So 10 pumpkins later (yep, that's 15 total) the costumes are done and they're ready to dance. By the way, Libby hates her pumpkin costume. I'm hoping she'll put it on for the recital. I had to bribe her with candy to get this picture:
Here's our duplex. Let us know if you have a renter for us. :)
The girls at my mom's. This picture reminds me of Julane and I. We spent lots of time in front of this chalkboard as kids. And go figure, I turned out to be a teacher. huh.
