All-Comers Meet

We did our first All-Comers Meet of the season and it won't be our last! The girls had a great time and burned some energy in the process....

The 4th

Our 4th was much the same as it usually is, a tradition I wouldn't trade. We got to the parade just as it was starting and jumped in....

This morning the girls got up, saw the sun and put on their swimsuits. We slept till 9:30 which didn't leave much time to play before heading home.

Let's Work!

The other day a colleague of mine posted this article Why Are American Kids So Spoiled? on facebook. I read it and took it to heart. It's true. It made me consider all of the things I do for my kids without thought; things they could, and should, do for themselves. And then we got down to business. Now, they're making their own toast with butter and jam, microwaving their own veggie sausage, getting their own glasses of milk and water, washing and folding laundry, picking up their toys and peeling hard boiled eggs. Tomorrow, they're going to learn to make a pot of coffee. Coffee made before I get out of bed!? Yes please! I've got kids who can make coffee! Woot Woot!

Tonight for dinner they had egg salad sandwiches, which means they helped to make dinner. Dinner! The very thing I'm no good at. The thing I said I'd get good at when I had kids. Now I don't have to get good. I've got kids for this!

Olympic Trials

We spent the afternoon at the olympic trials. We didn't have tickets into the stadium, but there was so much to do around the venue we didn't need them. The last time the trials were here our family looked like this.

A friend of mine was singing with her band on the main stage, so the goal was to get there in time to see them play. They were great, and we made some fun stops on the way....



The girls might not understand yet what a big deal the olympics are, but I'm pretty sure Libby added London to her bucket list because they have double decker buses.



Can I get this installed in my home? No, not for me.

Riding back to Autzen on the bus, which was a highlight in itself. Forget the Olympic Trials being in Eugene. We have buses. See Peyton's deer-in-the-headlights look? She was asleep before we got home.
